If you're not sure what to do when you get your exam results, take a look at the stories of two n2k readers who decided they want to do an Apprenticeship.

Jet setter

It was an interest in travel that first got Elisa, now 18, thinking about taking an Apprenticeship.

Culture vulture

"I've always had an interest in other cultures and languages and have always really liked going abroad and experiencing other countries. It was my older sister's idea to get into an Apprenticeship."

Rise up

Starting off as a travel assistant for a major holiday company, Elisa soon rose through the ranks. "Since I started doing my Apprenticeship in Travel Services, I've learned so much. I attend college every week and work full days in the office when I'm not studying.

Get involved

My employers have really helped me out and got involved in my training. I haven't just been left to get on with it. I have stood in for the assistant manager of my team a couple of times while she was on holiday and I can't wait to progress.

What's good about my Apprenticeship is that because I've put more time in and completed work early, my training period is shorter."

Personal organiser

Ever since he organised his very own tenth birthday party, Shahid, 18, has wanted to put together amazing events for people to enjoy.

After he finished his GCSEs, he spoke to a careers adviser who recommended that he give an Events Apprenticeship a go.

Make it happen

"I've always loved organising and putting stuff together. I like to see people having fun and you get an even bigger buzz when you look around and think 'I made this happen'.

I'm learning about all sorts in my Apprenticeship; it's really varied and no two days seem to be the same. It's more than just putting a few sandwiches together and booking a room.

Star studded

At college we learn about exhibitions, putting venues together and co-ordinating staff. I've also been on hand to help organise some pretty major charity events and even met a few celebrities!

I'm glad that I started my Apprenticeship instead of jumping straight into a job in this industry because I'm learning all the time and every day I think I get better. I really feel like I'm getting somewhere.

Now all I need to do is organise a massive party to celebrate finishing my Apprenticeship!"
