A good journey planner for the UK is traveline, which gives you details of the best bus, train or tram routes.
If you're travelling somewhere new or far make sure you leave your contact details with a family member or friend in case of emergencies.
If you're travelling abroad make sure you have all the right documents such as visas or permits. Also make sure your passport is valid at the time of travel.
When planning your trip, make sure you know enough about the town, city or country you're travelling to.
