Stuck for ideas of things to do this summer? Look no further than the pages of n2k. In the first of our two part series, we come up with 5 ideas to help keep you busy these holidays.
1. Ride to Doom
Are you into scary rides, monsters and ghouls? If so then you’re in luck because the London Dungeons are offering two of you the chance to win a family ticket to any of the Dungeons in the UK. Check out the gruesome and the gory with live actors and scary rides. There’s also a new ride called Extremis: Drop Ride to Doom, based on public hangings in the 18th century. Are you brave enough? First two readers out of the bag win family tickets. In the meantime check out this ghostly sighting at the London Dungeons. Not for the faint hearted.
2. Go to a festival
Most of the weekend festivals are sold out but who wants to pay to party in the mud when you can go to many of the one day festivals across the UK, for free? If you live in London the Rise festival on 15th July hosts artists like Kelis, The Holloways and Jamelia, plus the Youth Slam finals. There are also a whole load of freebies around the UK throughout the summer. Find a music festival near you.
3. Make music
Watching bands and music is an awesome experience but what if you could make music as well? If you’ve ever wanted to learn to play an instrument the summer holiday is a perfect time to start. There are courses all over the UK for would-be musicians, singers, electronic music makers and DJs. Have a look round these websites to find a course near you.
Youth Music
Musical Routes

4. Be on telly
Many TV and radio shows are recorded in front of a live audience and that could be you! Have you ever wondered how a studio works? Or do you just want to see yourself on the TV? There are a whole load of shows you can apply for through the internet and best of all most of them are free. You have to be 16 for a lot of the shows, but not all of them. It’s best to check out these websites for more info.
The BBC
is also looking for people to star in shows like Animal Rescue and Leave Those Kids Alone!5. Go on holiday
Activities holidays offer fun, exercise and are a safe place for young people to hang out. It's a bit of a cheesy name but the YHA's Do It For Real summer programme has loads of activity camps from a film and media course to extreme sports camps. If you’re 17 or under this could be holiday to remember! There’s camps all over the UK , find one near you.
