Our Beat Bullying web site tells you what you can do if you're affected by bullying in any way.

Here we talk to young people about their experiences of bullying, how they overcame it and how it's affected them now.

I was bullied

"When I was in first year I got bullied really bad. I had to be picked up and dropped off by teachers at my school it was awful. The bully would wait for me, watch my every move, she would follow me.

I would go home in tears but then not say anything. As it got worse I could not cope and I just wanted to die. So I told someone and it really helped me.

It took a year but I am bully-free now. So if you are getting bullied take my advice and tell someone: it will make you feel loads better trust me.

Telling someone was the best thing I ever did, if I never told anyone I would not be here now telling YOU how to cope. Trust me, tell someone it will help you."

I bullied somebody

"There was this boy in my class and he came from this estate. One of my mates started having a go at him. At first it was things like calling him names because of where he came from but then he started hitting him when he saw him on the bus or at school.

I didn't do anything at first but joined in and used to do it as well. I didn't think about the boy's feelings, just that it was funny.

One day I saw him in the toilets, he had been crying and he was on his mobile saying to someone that he just wanted tom die because of what we were doing. When he saw me he got scared but I promised I wouldn't touch him again.

I tried to tell my mates to leave off but they wouldn't and they got into serious trouble when the boy snapped and told someone. The police came and talked to them and I was sent to the office and I was the only one that owned up even though I had stopped now.

Anyone who does that to a person should think how they feel or how you would feel if it was you."

I campaigned against bullying

Alex Holmes, 17, was so sick of bullying that he turned into a campaigner and vowed to stamp it out at his school. Read his incredible story.
