When n2k reader Liz wrote an article on how she couldn't cope with homework, we got lots of responses from people who knew what she was going through, as well as those who couldn't see what all the fuss was about..

Here's just a selection of what some of you had to say.

I want to chill out

You go to school then come home thinking about your homework; I mean I've been at school for eight hours then they expect me to do another two hours of homework.

I get really tired from school and when I get home I want to chill out, not do homework; it's too much pressure. Holly, 15

After school club vs. homework

I quite like school but I find it very tiring. I also do a couple of out of school clubs like the school ask you to but then I have so much homework that I either miss my out of school classes altogether or go and end up doing my homework in between ballet classes and before or after clubs.

Often people complain that this generation don't have a proper imagination but that is because we hardly get the chance to expand it. I also enjoy writing stories but how are you supposed to write a story if there’s no time?

There’s also the difficult balancing act of trying to balance your social life with homework. It's also a very confusing time and you have to be there for your friends or you will end up with no friends, which then blocks you from doing group activities such as studying together or class activities.

There is just too much to keep up with. I don't think homework should be banned but I do think we should have 45 minutes maximum every 1 or two days. Charlotte, 14

No free time

We spend enough time at school as it is. We're meant to have a break during the day. Lunch, dinner and afterwards isn't really enough after all the hard work we do through the day.

Yes, we have half terms and summer breaks but still our free time is our free time. Shouldn't we spend it how we want? Emily A, 15

Make school longer

If they want you to do more work they might as well make school longer. It wouldn't go down very with people, especially kids, but at least when you got home it would be non-school related and you could chill and not stress.

Most people either don't bother, copy it, do it and leave it home or nag their parents to write a note in saying sorry. Emily B, 16

I don't mind homework

I must be one of the few people in the world who don't mind doing homework. I just set myself a plan and get it done as soon as I get in from school while I've still got a school head on.

It only takes about an hour and half and then I can have my dinner and then I'm done and can do what I want. What else is anyone doing at that time of day anyway? Jack, 15
