5 Things u need2know

  1. Citizenship is about understanding the rights and responsibilities you have as a member of society.
  2. Citizenship involves learning about your human rights, politics and your community.
  3. Voting allows people to decide which person or political party makes decisions at their local council and central Government.
  4. To vote, you have to be 18 years old or older, have your name on your local authority's 'electoral register' and be a British Citizen. You can apply to join the electoral register if you're 16 or 17 years old.
  5. International Youth Day allows teenagers to highlight issues that affect them. This is celebrated throughout the world and encourages youth empowerment.
