5 Things u need2know

  1. Tax credits aims to tackle poverty and support people who want to work.
  2. You can claim Child Tax Credit if you are responsible for at least one child or young person under the age of 16. You can also apply if you are responsible for a child between 16 and 18, under certain circumstances.
  3. You can still claim the Child Tax Credit even if you receive Child Benefit.
  4. You can claim Working Tax Credit if you are aged 16 or over, responsible for a child or you are disabled and work at least 16 hours a week.
  5. If you are married or living with a partner as if you are married, you must claim tax credits as a couple.
