  1. There's lots of financial help available if you need it such as student loans and grants, EMA and some universities offer financial aid that you don't have to pay back.
  2. Managing a student account is simple as long as you keep an eye on your spending.
  3. Banks offer new customers free tickets to gigs, CDs, free discount rail cards and electronics.
  4. Once you've graduated, your bank will be keen to convert your overdraft into a repayable loan and may charge you interest until it is paid off.
  5. The National Union of Students (NUS) offers student discounts of 10 - 20 per cent in high street stores and restaurants.
