  1. You can only apply for a credit card or loan if you are 18 years old or above and live in the UK.
  2. Credit cards are designed for short term borrowing, but card holders can easily get themselves into a great deal of debt.
  3. Always be cautious about special offers or loans that you read about in leaflets through the post, in newspapers or on the web.
  4. As well as the interest rate, also check for any additional charges.
  5. Always read through all of the lender's terms and conditions.
