Technical
Search
The easiest way to find help on the site is to use our Search box. It's as simple as typing in a few words or phrases. When using Search, try to think of words that perfectly describe what you're looking for, because this will help give you more exact results. For example, if you wanted to look for information on learning how to drive, you would get better results by typing in the phrase 'driving lesson', instead of just 'driving'.
To look for an exact phrase, use quotation marks e.g. "Transport for London". If you do not use quotation marks, the site will search for each word separately.
All Search results appear in descending order and the best matches appear at the top of the list.
Slow downloads
If you are using a slow modem connection we recommend you 'turn off images' in your browser settings.

Our site has been designed to work in all modern browsers.
Getting games to work
need2know contains rich media, animations, games and clickable guides, which may need Shockwave or Flash plug-in to be installed. These can be downloaded free from the Macromedia website.

Content
need2know is designed to help you find the answer to virtually any question you might have about life. As well as using the search box or the site's A to Z of web sites, you can also try looking through each of the site's categories. Under each category, we've tried to cover all of the most important topics that are important to you. You just need to click on them and you'll be taken to a homepage dedicated to that topic. For example, to find out about bullying, head for the Relationships section homepage and you'll see a list of all the topics within that section in the left hand side of the page. That's where you'll find the Bullying information.
Every topic has '5 things you need2know'; some basic facts to get you started. There are also some more detailed overviews of each topic, and you can find them on every topic's homepage, or by going to the navigation bar in the left hand side of the topic and looking directly underneath the topic name. Every topic also has a lost if useful sites that can offer even more information. And that's not all: need2know is updated daily with new features and activities that relate to the issues that matter to you.
